Class topics

Three sessions, infinitely useful.

Each session is taught standalone — come to one, all three, or whichever sequence fits. Tap any topic for the full breakdown.

For
Any cyclist with 200+ km on their chain
Bring
Your bike (clean or dirty — we'll work with what you bring)
You'll learn
  • Measure chain stretch with a Park CC-3.2 gauge
  • Degrease + clean technique with Muc-Off products
  • Wet vs dry lube — when to use which
  • Build a 200-km cleaning routine that sticks
  • Recognise when a chain is done
You'll do

Hands-on with your own chain — by the end you'll have measured, cleaned, and lubed it yourself.

For
Riders ready for more than basic maintenance
Bring
Your bike + a fresh roll of bar tape
You'll learn
  • Cassette cleaning + inspection for wear
  • Basic derailleur fine-tuning (B-tension, limit screws)
  • Bar tape removal + clean re-wrap from the bottom up
  • Cable tension + lever feel
  • How to spot a cable that's about to fail
You'll do

Strip and re-wrap your handlebars. Clean your cassette properly. Adjust one derailleur stop screw.

For
Beginners + experienced (different focus each)

Your bike — that's it
You'll learn
  • The ABC check (Air, Brakes, Chain)
  • Quick-release / through-axle torque check
  • Lever bite + brake-pad alignment basics
  • Tyre pressure for body weight + tyre width
  • Frame visual inspection — what to look for
You'll do

Apply the full check to your own bike in front of you. Build a 90-second routine you can do before every ride.

Your instructor

Murali.

Road and mountain racer, mountain climb record-holder, nandi hills. Teaches the way he learned — slowly, hands-on, with the actual tool in his hand and yours, on the bike that's going home with you.

These classes started because customers kept asking the same questions at pickup. Now they happen monthly-ish, in small groups, at the workshop bench.

Classes are run as a community offering with NWCG. Most sessions are free or have a small materials fee (e.g. bar tape for the wrap class). Specific pricing for the next session will be in the announcement on Instagram.

Small — usually 4 to 6 people per session. This keeps it hands-on and lets Murali actually answer questions, not lecture from a slide.

No. The Pre-ride safety check and chain classes are explicitly designed for beginners. Murali starts from "this is a chain" and only goes as deep as the group can follow.

Yes — the intermediate classes (drivetrain, bar tape) assume you can already do a basic tune-up. We focus on the technique gaps most home mechanics never close: torque on small bolts, derailleur B-tension, bar tape that actually stays put.

They're announced on Instagram first. WhatsApp us to be added to a notification list — we'll text you when a session is scheduled.

Absolutely. WhatsApp us with what you want to learn. If enough riders ask for the same topic, we schedule it.
